OHA is focused on strategic priorities for improving the conditions of Native Hawaiians in the areas of ‘āina, culture, economic self-sufficiency, education, governance, and health. OHA’s advocacy involves conducting research whose findings are used to guide decisions and empower communities to inspire positive results in these areas. Provides grants, employment opportunities, leasing opportunities, loans, and scholarships for native Hawaiian people.

ALU LIKE, Inc. has a comprehensive range of services and activities to fill identified needs in the Native Hawaiian community, including community economic development, business assistance, employment preparation, training, library services, educational and childcare services for families with young children.

The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) is a member-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to enhance the cultural, economic, political, and community development of Native Hawaiians.

Eligibility Requirements for Rent/Mortgage Assistance 

• Be on the DHHL Applicant Waiting List OR an Undivided Interest Lessee in the State of Hawaiʻi 

• Rent housing in the State of Hawaiʻi 

• Be 18 years or older 

• Prove one or members of household has qualified for unemployment benefits or experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or other financial hardship due to COVID-19 

• Demonstrate a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability, unsafe or unhealthy living conditions, or any other evidence of such risk 

• Meet income qualification—less than 80% Area Median Income (AMI). Amount differs by county.
